Banshee
Non-Lethal Active Denial
Access Denial and Threat Mitigation
The standard Banshee system offers three levels of non-lethal threat deterrence:
- Long-range acoustical device (LRAD) can transmit pre-recorded or live verbal commands, as well as a 143 dB siren to affect an intruder’s hearing and cause temporary disorientation.
- Focusable spotlight directs 12 million candlepower of white light to illuminate a wide or narrow field of view, as determined by the system operator. A strobe mode temporarily impairs an intruder’s vision and is especially effective against nighttime visitors.
- Green laser dazzler impairs the intruder’s vision day or night, causing disorientation and making it impossible for an intruder to aim a weapon. Dazzler intensity is regulated by a laser range finder to prevent lasting vision effects within the 100-meter Nominal Ocular Hazard Distance (NOHD) zone.
Maximum Warning
A Banshee system provides 360-degree human detection at distances of up to 500 meters. Vehicles can be detected at distances up to 1000 meters.
Multiple Banshees can be networked together, allowing a single operator to surveil many square kilometers. Each system can detect multiple targets simultaneously and provide accurate geolocation of each potential threat.
Rapid Assessment
Once a target is located, long-range thermal and visual cameras can be precisely aimed in under two seconds, either by automatic slew-to-cue software or by the operator using an intuitive point-and-click interface. Either way, the operator can see the target in day or night conditions and determine if it is a threat.
Infinitely Configurable
IEC’s modular architecture directly supports integration of additional third-party sensors, such as fence contact, ground vibration, or CBRNE. This layered approach allows the operator to quickly distinguish objects of interest from distractions such as wildlife or site personnel. Sites with existing C2 software will find that IEC’s IntrudIR Alert middleware can be integrated easily, giving security staff and managers a complete operating picture.
Banshee can be mounted on a permanent tower or building, on a collapsible trailer-mounted tower for rapid relocation, and even on a portable tripod for fast setup.
